Community Wellness
St. Benedict Talent Hub, an out fit of St. Benedict Education Centre has a department that focuses on the community outreaches to empower the community
on topical socio-political issues that affects them directly.
During our community
engagement meetings, we actively involve the community members in discussions,
decision-making processes, and activities that directly affect them, specifically; the gender-based violence, public participation on budget making process and project prioritization in the wards. Engagement is an ongoing dialogue where members feel heard, valued, and empowered to contribute to positive changes within the community.
Rationale for Community wellness:
Rationale for Community wellness:
Wellness and engagement
meetings encourage collaboration between various groups, such as schools,
local businesses, health professionals, and local governments towards a
common goal. This collective responsibility strengthens the community as a
whole.
By addressing wellness issues
collectively, communities can implement initiatives that support both mental
and physical health. This could include access to healthcare, mental health
resources, fitness programs, or social activities that enhance well-being.
Community wellness and engagement
meetings create an inclusive space where people can share concerns, ideas,
and resources. This fosters a sense of belonging and solidarity, helping
individuals feel supported and connected to one another.
When community members are actively engaged in
decision-making and problem-solving, they feel empowered to create the
changes they wish to see. This leads to greater ownership over the
community’s health and future.
Engagement meetings can raise
awareness about critical issues affecting the community, such as health
disparities, GBV, access to resources, or environmental concerns. With
greater awareness, members are more likely to take action and advocate for
positive change.
